What's wrong with the market with General Motors

General Motors reported its results for the fourth quarter and it disappointed Wall Street. At the market opening Thursday sent GM shares down $0.85.

But the road come to actually look at the details, and they decided that things were not so bad for GM finally. And two hours into the trading day the stock positive.

GM profit amounted to $0.67 per share, excluding a one-time charge of $0.10 in the fourth quarter. Result was $0.57 better than in the previous year, but it is nowhere near the $0.88, which analysts had expected. Sales missed even Wall Street pay. The top-line company in the last quarter was $40.5 billion, about $580 million below analyst consensus.

What this fee was $0.10 of the result of the each share took? It was part of the company notice of the brands in Europe, and manufacturing operations in Australia.

North America profit before tax of the company $1.9 billion in the quarter were $800 million more than in the previous year. Even his troubled Europe improved $500 million compared to the previous year; lost this year Europe only the firm $300 million before taxes, compared with 2012 $800 million deficit.

CNBC-Le Gina Sanchez, founder of the global Chantico, thinks General Motors is on the right track and still likes the stock.

"One of the reasons for its earnings miss was over a $700 million, which Chevrolet in Germany took them to the closure of the brand", says Sanchez. "At the end will be positive, because they've had pretty confused brand strategy in Europe."

Sanchez noted that in the United States, the company remained profitable and is under new management, with CEO Mary T. Barra at the top of the company three weeks ago.

"Barra is just come and they are positive, the launch of a series of changes in the management of the entire GM, I think", says Sanchez, who believes that the market is underestimating the future of the company.

"This was in a recession is pricing", Sanchez says. "We are not in a recession. So, I think, at 8.3 times [price-earnings-multiple], I think, that's an interesting camp. "

Jeff Tomasulo, managing partner of Belpointe alternative investments, believes that GM stock charts tell a different story.

"Price says it all and now, the price is to say it is very bearish," said Tomasulo. "GM had a big movement at the top in 2013 and end [year] made it the 52-week high. Since we are almost 16% - double what the S & p is down."

Tomasulo says that he is concerned that technically important 50 - and 200 days moving the stock below its average broke. Now it is quite close to what he, as important support between $33.50 and 34 sees US dollars per share. For those who believe that the fundamentals are positive, and wins the day with the stock, can be used as entry points, after Tomasulo these levels.

"You now can buy a bit of GM", says Tomasulo. "At these levels, you put an end. "I think that you actually use Gina's fundamental analysis and maybe could make money."

GM has a U-turn on Chevy in Europe

GM has a U-turn on Chevy in Europe
After several years and hundreds of millions of dollars spent, Chevrolet wants a popular mass market brand in Europe makes General Motors reversed course.

The company on Thursday that retiring is Chevy vehicles in Europe as its no. 1 mass-market brand and will make his primary mainstream line of Opel.

It's the kind of movement that makes sense, if you are the numbers. At the same time, it raises more questions about GM long slog in Europe--where it has lost money for the last 14 years.

General Motors plans cars and crossovers in Europe to the setting of the most Chevy sales until the end of 2015, said the company. It will still sell, Chevy's iconic models, such as the Corvette, but mainstream cars like the Cruze under the Chevy badge is no longer offered.

Instead, the company in marketing and plans focused on its long-standing European brands Opel and Vauxhall. Opel sold five to one in Europe is better than Chevy, according to sales figures.

Wall Street reaction was divided, when former GM CEO Rick Wagoner 2005 would announced that Chevrolet will the automaker of the primary brand worldwide.

There was applause for the decision on a page. Some thought that will get it how GM its marketing energy use the mainstream flagship would allow.

"On the other hand many what happens with Opel?" asked Europe has long been in a fragmented market--with more brands than in the United States, see a continent with declining revenues in the competition. But Opel so Wagoners choice has it ditch for Chevy not easily would have been built up a strong following in decades.

GM tidying up of the mass market to a relief battle between Chevy and Opel fighting face each other in a crowded and competitive marketplace were.

With this new decision, it would seem that GM finally to admit is his plan to the push Chevy in Europe failed.

UPDATE 1-Ford to reduce the mileage rating on C-Max hybrid

UPDATE 1-Ford to reduce the mileage rating on C-Max hybrid
DETROIT, Aug 15 Reuters) - Ford Motor Co which will lower advertised fuel economy ratings on the C-Max hybrid of up to seven miles per gallon, the company said on Thursday, following complaints from consumers and industry experts, the actual behind the demands of the model mileage fell.

Since the issue of the discrepancies between advertised EPA reviews and real-word mileage a mileage range from manufacturers, especially the gasoline electric hybrids is concerned, said U.S. environmental protection agency on Thursday scheduled update their fuel economy labelling regulations, partly to these problems to solve.

The EPA said that 2013 Ford C-Max under his new rating system according to estimated fuel economy of 40 miles per gallon on the highway, 45 mpg in the city and 43 mpg combined would be exploited. Was the C-Max reviewed 47 mpg highway, city and combined.

Ford said that it controls to C-Max customers to make sending difference in fuel costs$ 550 for owners and $325 to tenants.

The EPA said that it tested have not reached the C-Max after receiving complaints that the vehicle the brand values of 47 mpg.

The move is a blow for the second-largest U.S. based automaker, which has announced its outstanding fuel efficiency and vocal in his desire to overtake Toyota Motor Corp. as the leader of the U.S. hybrid segment.

But Ford's dilemma has implications for other manufacturers of hybrid vehicles, which many of them have a reputation for their advertised mileage clinical outcome.

Ford's announcement comes about 10 months after an EPA investigation revealed that Hyundai Motor Co and its subsidiary Kia Motors Corp. overstated their fuel economy by at least a mile per gallon.

General Motors sold a variety of hybrid vehicles, including the Chevrolet Volt, said on Thursday, "closely with the EPA on an improved procedure that can help consumers deliver it reliable information through data supported works."

Customer magazine reports last year said that fell Ford C-Max and fusion hybrids about 20 percent behind their promised fuel consumption in road tests.

The automaker has faced several class-action lawsuits claiming that it exaggerated consumption on its hybrids. Last month, she offered a free software update to the C-Max and fusion hybrids to boost real economy.

Ford Technical Director Raj Nair said on Thursday that the C-Max an EPA previously same provisions in the family like the fusion hybrid, was pot so that both the 47 mpg rating together. 2014 C-Max, which is tested separately, get some hardware upgrades on the mileage improve.

The EPA says its fuel consumption on their website tests "should reflect behavior"typical"driving conditions and driver", but their ratings "may not accurately predict" real mileage of the vehicle.

Fuel hits all-time record: 23.8 mpg

Fuel hits all-time record: 23.8 mpg

Paul A. Eisenstein, the Detroit Bureau
American motorists are more and more from their new cars as the average fuel consumption of new cars and trucks sold rose by 6 percent and set an all-time high in the year 2012 as consumers of higher gas prices and the increasing availability of attractive products of high-mileage, said according to a study.

University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute-eco-driving-index indicating the average fuel consumption of new vehicles in 2012 on a record 23.8 mpg, 1.3 mpg from 2011 and 2.9 mpg from 2008 bought.

But whether this trend will continue, especially with the economy recovering and fuel prices fall - at least for the moment – remains to be seen. Study that found University of the fuel consumption of vehicles in December bought 23.9 mpg below 0.2 mpg from November, probably due to the last reduction in the price of gasoline.

General Motors is the first U.S. automaker in its home market in a year to sell more than 1 million vehicles, which get mpg or better on the highway of cycle 30 an EPA-estimated.

Industry observers note that a variety of factors were restructuring of the U.S. auto market. While consumers to smaller vehicles have started is the greater tendency to smaller and more economical drives, change including turbocharged and hybrid alternatives.

"Our investment in advanced powertrains clearly pay off and be our smaller vehicles with customers, resonance", said Mark Reuss, President of GM North America. "In the year 2013, we introduce new diesel eAssist and plug ins to expand the availability of the turbocharged four-cylinder engines and vehicles in the United States." This will give the technologically diverse economical cars and crossovers in the industry us."

Thirteen GM vehicles at least a comprehensive model that achieved with at least 30 mpg highway, and the manufacturers have known, it was the first to sell more than 30 mpg at least 1 million vehicles in a single year of 2012.

Small cars were selling Ford 29% in 2012, with 316.006 vehicles sold. Focus sales gained 40% in the course of the year, and the new C-MAX next its strong selling rate. Were in the first four months of sales 13.309 C-MAX vehicles sold and thus fastest selling beginning each hybrid vehicle in the industry.

The shift, however, is about the steady growth of the smaller vehicles, which is driven by pricing. Automakers have withdrawn many of their older, full-size vehicles and replaced them with newer models that are significantly more fuel efficient. The completely newly designed Toyota Avalon 2013 gets 31 miles per gallon on the highway.

Even Chrysler, which remains, his RAM pick-up truck that is most fuel efficient full-size pickup on the market adds today getting 25 mpg, often behind their rivals in the fuel economy has improved during total fuel economy of all pick-up trucks in the last years.

The pickup segment provides a good example as the U.S. market shifted. All three are the Detroit makers with new mileage reduced emphasis on drive trains. Ford, in particular has seen from half of the F-series buyers shift to the V-6 offers in the last year, including the V-6 EcoBoost, nor the towing and payload capacity of the Ford truck classic V 8s can match.

Nevertheless Americans were expected a record sum on petrol in the year 2012, after spending $490 billion in 2011 - which is approximately 100 billion $ to spend in 2010 more than figure. Last year count is expected to be in about 500 billion $ come.

While nationwide fuel prices approached to record levels in the spring – and indeed the all-time high in California this year due to supply problems exceeded - gasoline prices have fallen heavily in recent weeks.

They are currently $3.30 per gallon average according to the energy information agency, down from $3.45 a month ago. Now, gas prices are the same as they were a year ago.
