Nissan Pathfinder, Infiniti QX4 SUVs, recalls

DETROIT - remembered almost 271,000 older model Pathfinder Nissan Motor Co Ltd and Infiniti QX4 SUVs in North America due to the chance that could collect road salt and water, causing a loss of steering, U.S. Security regulators said.

Affected around 45,330 Infiniti QX4 SUVs of models years 1997 and 2003 in the United States and Canada are about 225,650 Scouts from model years 1996 to 2004.


The recall affects Scouts and QX4s in Canada and 20 cold weather States where road salt is used to keep streets disable snow and ice.


Road can collect salt and melted snow in the strut and, corrosion, which could lead to difficulties in the control and the regulators said even losses, steering, could lead to a crash.


Customers of the product recall may inform Nissan and its dealers will investigate and fix the issue free of charge.


No injuries were reported due to this issue and there is a report of an accident that this caused, but Nissan said that he not was confirmed as the corrosion problem linked.

Nissan said its tests have indicated that only a small part of the recalled vehicles are expected to repair.
