Reading of the 2010 top stolen cars report from the national insurance Crime Bureau has me questions: what is it about the 1994 Honda Accord that thieves find so irresistible?
Certain agreements and Honda Civics from the 1990's, along with the 1989 Toyota Camry, have dominated the list for the past eight years. Because of the diversity of the NICB says duplicates of his top 10 lists, Public Affairs Director Frank Scafidi cuts. It is possible, then, that a further year of the agreement could have encountered another contender from the list. (1996 Version was also a popular destination in 2010.)
1994 Accord was however something special. In the same year, Honda revised design of the accord and changed information under the hood. Art full model change, as it is said, were accompanied by a big publicity push would Chris Martin said, a Honda spokesman, in an interview.
Thieves are likely agreement interested in mid of 90's simple, because there are so many of them still on the streets, Martin said. Demand for spare parts can keep shady actors in the economy.
"I believe, many vehicles are stolen tear it apart", said Martin.
Honda has not stopped, has to sell agreement, but it is much more difficult to steal it. In 1997, Honda began small microchips car key commissioning. If someone tries a car without the key hot-wire, would just start not the car. (Hot wiring may be out of date, but other methods, such as with a tilt-bed tow truck, still works, Scafidi notes.)
NICB report thefts by State breaks, offers plenty of opportunities to draw connections between car thieves preferences and the type, such as, that we live in today. For example:
Texas is the only State where the full-size Chevy Tahoe makes the list, and five of the nine remaining vehicles on the list are pick-up trucks; In Michigan, the top-10 list consisted entirely of American cars;Vans - mostly Dodge Caravan - were among the most frequently stolen cars in Delaware, Kansas, North Carolina, North Dakota and Vermont. The caravan was 1 choice in Missouri the number for thieves. 1990s; estimated in the first place, by thieves in Montana, Maine, Oregon and Vermont Subaru legacy wagonNew York claim to fame: it the only State with the minibus Ford Econoline E350 is on its Liste. In of Maryland, the 1999 Ford Crown Victoria - the iconic law enforcement vehicle - the list made.
