GM planning a big splash at the Detroit Auto show

General Motors co. is swear to a shot on the next month with at least four new products put North American International Auto Show debut to make.


Mary Barra, GM senior Vice President of global development, said that one of the vehicles for the introduction at the NAIAS planned be Cadillac ATS, the national brand new entry-level luxury sedan.


Barra "ATS is an important part of the Cadillac expansion", said the Detroit automotive press Association.

The unveiling of ATS also marked the debut of a new rear-wheel drive based architecture designed for agile, fast and fun driving dynamics and advanced technology. The ATS is in production at the plant in Lansing Grand River Assembly next summer.


Described as the most influential woman in the automotive industry, Barra supervised an operation $15 billion currently design and 113 main product programs global engineering "from concept to production..." "Mini cars to full-sized body-frame truck... and everything in between."


As beings of the GM product development Chief almost a year ago called, Barra, said that it has tried to emphasize stability and continuity. After taking their posts, Barra has eliciting the views of engineers and designers in the entire GM product development organization.


"The GM product development personnel enormously talented," said Barra. But they were also frustrated because projects were often delayed or killed as the company with its financial problems over the last decade to fight. The delays were expensive for GM and the company cost as much as $1 billion annually, said Barra. Ford is planning a team with Sollers in Russia

NEW YORK - Ford Motor Co. plans to make a team with a Russian automaker and distribute cars in the country. The announcement came shortly after the Italian automaker Fiat SpA of a potential partnership with the same Russian company secured.

Fiat and Russian automaker Sollers had to produce signed a memorandum of understanding last year by up to 500 000 vehicles per year in Russia in a bid, it the second largest car manufacturer. The two companies said in a joint statement Friday, you would "independent policies." Fiat has U.S. automaker Chrysler.

Fiat's proposed partnership with Sollers had a major joint venture, with Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, the supervision of a high profile ceremony in February, the potential deal announced the seen. News reports said Toyota would use Sollers existing factory in the Russian Far East port city of Vladivostok to produce cars and possibly sport utility vehicles. Japanese company Mitsui and co. to join Toyota in the Russian project are.

A Toyota spokeswoman said that nothing had been decided.

Meanwhile, Fiat will maintain a presence in Russia. Sollers has a license to produce Fiat vehicles, including Assembly of the Fiat Ducato of light commercial vehicle that is insensitive to end the joint venture. Fiat says it plans that continue expansion of its in Naberezhnye Chelny, East of Moscow in Tatarstan.
