After trying with Studebaker, to merge that - after the second world war and never quite getting sync with American luxury buyers again – the last of the 'real' Packard in Detroit the massive work built on this day in 1956 left. The Packard name would live on for a few years on two-door Studebaker before disappearing into history, a precipitous fall for what was once an American standard.
